Good Things Happen to Good People?

Good things happen to good people. Or should it be more like good things happen to good people?. Let’s do a little analysis on how people might have arrived at this theory. Good things do good things, karma is in their favor, so things happen back to them vis-a-vis good things happen to good people. As a concept it feels solid, and even fair but as we all know life is very unfair. And, one thing about this kinda amuses me. What is a good thing and if we do good things expecting good karma in favour doesn’t that eliminate the ‘good’ in the ‘good thing’ and it becomes just a ‘thing’. Okay right now I have said ‘good’ and ‘thing’ too many times.

We as humans are kinda instilled with the concept of incentivising good things. You do it, you reap the reward but shouldn’t the act be purely out of intention and nothing more. If that's the core idea we want to hold, we can’t really expect only good things to happen to good people. All these musings began at a very low point in my life or rather seeing the people I love, who are ‘good’ people who do ‘good’ things suffer and suffer. I know for a fact that they didn’t do anything to deserve what happened to them. It didn’t feel right to just say ‘it’s all fate’ and move on. I mean there has to be an explanation right, if good things happen to good people then why shittiest of things happen to the ‘goodest of people (excuse my English).

But as I said during the lowest of times when I had these musings, I also realized something else. I was never alone. I am not sure if good things bring back good things but they do bring good people around you. And, as a Brooklyn99 legend once said, “Life is chaos, success(it can mean anything you want) is arbitrary…”. There is no guarantee that just because you are a good person only things gonna happen to you, maybe it can, maybe it can’t, one may hope but being a good person brings good people around you and no matter what life throws at you, you will live and you will survive!
